For most home installations, a few clear photos and a handful of details tell me everything I need to give you a firm, costed plan up front, no surprises on the day. It takes about five minutes. If anything's tricky to photograph, don't worry, send what you can and I'll ask if I need more.

Getting good photos

Stand back rather than zooming in, wide shots show more than close-ups. Take them in good light. If in doubt, send an extra photo rather than none, I'll filter what I need. Nothing here is graded, there's no wrong way to do this.

Consumer unit (fuse board)

Open the cover so the breakers are visible. Stand back a little rather than zooming in, and include the wall around it. Add as many photos as you need.

Incoming supply and meter

A wide shot showing the meter, the main fuse and the cables around it. Step back so the surrounding space is visible, not just a close-up of the meter itself.

Cable route

The path a cable would take from the consumer unit to where you'd like the charger. A few photos usually work better than one here, or a short video if that's easier.

Around 20 seconds is plenty. A slow walk along the route is all I need.

Preferred charger location

The actual wall you have in mind, with your parking spot visible in the same shot.
